DNA PRO TEAM RECAP:
DNA Cycling Pro Team has been racing in international stage races, road national championships, gravel events, and criteriums around the globe. In this Ride Journal, we cover all of their race results over the past few months.
STAGES:
The DNA Pro Cycling Team visited Colombia to race in this year’s Vuelta a Colombia stage race. The team succeeded in translating in 3 stage wins, winning the overall points competition and second place in the GC, and rode several prestigious leaders jerseys throughout the Vuelta.
When looking back on stage wins, Diana Peñuela was one of the standout riders, winning stages 1 and 2 back to back. Kaitlyn Rauwerda won Stage 5, making this her first pro win. We are incredibly proud of all our racers in Colombia.
Vuelta a Colombia DNA Results:
Stage 1 and 2 – 1st Diana Peñuela
Stage 5 – 1st Kaitlyn Rauwerda
1st in Points Classification – Diana Peñuela
2nd in General Classifications – Diana Peñuela
Stage 3 Most Combative Jersey – Anet Barrera
Stage 5 Raced in Best Foreign Rider Jersey – Anet Barrera
ROAD:
During this year’s U.S. Pro Road Nationals, our newest rider Heidi Franz finished 5th overall. We congratulate Sarah Van Dam on winning the 2023 U23 Canadian Road National Champion title!
GRAVEL:
Heather Fischer and Daphne Karagianis took on the iconic Crusher in the Tushar. They were met with some of the most brutal climbs and gravel that Beaver had to offer. Luckily, the DNA aid station was there to help by giving them an ice pack, water, and a firm push up the Col de Crush! Our ambassador Sarah Kaufmann also had a 3peat at the ENVE Grodeo.
CRITERIUM:
June and July consisted of many Marquis Criteriums, and we stood on many podiums at the Tour of America’s Dairyland, including a stage win and the Cheddar Omnium Win with Harriet Owen.
The DNA Pro Cycling Team raced the American Criterium Cup events at Tulsa Tough, America’s Dairylands, Boise Twilight, Salt Lake Criterium, and Intelligentsia Cup. We’ve had a mix of riders at these events due to conflicts with our other races, but Kimberly Lucie was able to extend her lead in the ACC Sprint Points competition.
GOING FORWARD:
As we move forward, the DNA Team will now move onto our second block of racing in Europe with two one day Road Races in Belgium (GP Oetingen UCI 1.1, Egmont UCI 1.2) and the Tour of Ardeche UCI 2.1, a 7-day stage race in the south of France, followed by Tour de Gatineau in Canada UCI 1.1. Domestically, we have three more American Criterium Cup races in which Kimberly Lucie will work to defend her lead in the Sprint Points competition (Littleton, Indy Cup, and Gateway Cup). Daphne Karagianis and Anet Barrera will test their legs at SBT GRVL.
Thus far, 12 of our 14 riders have all stood on the podium this season! Every leader and domestique has their days on this squad. We congratulate this fantastic team of women and are proud to sponsor such a hardworking and dedicated team.
